Devotions for Life

Every Drug Imaginable

Text:  “For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but to do that which is good is not. For the good which I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I practice” (Romans 7:18-19).

Recently we saw news accounts of a former NBA star who was hospitalized in critical condition and clinging to life. The report said that he had every drug imaginable in his system.

Something We Must Not Love, The World

Ponder: Doesn’t God love the world? Why shouldn’t I?

Scripture: “Do not love the world or the things in the world” (1 John 2:15a, NKJV).

Who would deny that love is good? Yet God’s word teaches that we should not love certain things. Even love can be misdirected.

Best Of Intentions

“The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir,’ but he did not go” (Matt 21:30 NASU).

We’ve all heard it. Always sobering to hear. Causes us lots of self reflection. “The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” A bit thread-worn after all the abuse but it still has a profound effect upon those who are tender-hearted about their spiritual lives.
