Murderous Barabbas

Around the cross we see,

Murderous Barabbas.

“And, there was one called Barabbas, lying bound with them that had made insurrection, men who in the insurrection had committed murder” (Mark 15:7 ASV). “Then released he unto them Barabbas; but Jesus he scourged and delivered to be crucified” (Matthew 27:26).

Practicing Remembering

Deuteronomy 26:1-15

“When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you as a special possession and you have conquered it and settled there, put some of the first produce from each crop you harvest into a basket and bring it to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored. Go to the priest in charge at that time and say to him, ‘With this gift I acknowledge to the LORD your God that I have entered the land he swore to our ancestors he would give us.’ The priest will then take the basket from your hand and set it before the altar of the LORD your God.”

Lovers of Good

“Loves What Is Good” vs. “Loves Not What Is Good”

These phrases are translated by one word. Paul says a man who aspires to be an overseer of the church must be one “who loves what is good” (Titus 1:8). He then says there will be those who are “lovers of self,” and “not loving what is good (2 Tim. 3:2, 3). The only difference between the two words is the small letter “a” (alpha), added on the front of the word which adds “not” to a word such as “atypical” meaning “not typical.”
