Devotions for Life

“Until That Day”

“. . . and I have no doubt at all that He is able to take care of all that I have entrusted to Him until that day” (2 Tim. 2:12).

The majority of those I’ve met in a lifetime are “tomorrow people,” waiting for specific occurrences, such as “When the children are grown,” or “When I am feeling better,” and last, but not least, “When my ship comes in.”

“Worry Wart”

“So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” (Matthew 6:34).

Are you a “Nervous Nellie,” a “Worry Wart”? These expressions describe a person “who agonizes unduly, anticipating failure or disaster or other misfortune.” Author and authority, Francis O’Gorman, states that when people lose faith and place their confidence in thought or reasonings there’s going to be more worry and anxiety because we face an infinite choices of possibilities. He says, “worriers are natural storytellers. Our imaginations seize upon ‘What if. . .?’ scenarios with astonishing ease – and near-ceaseless energy.”

What Does God Want Me To Do?

“God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27).
We were created in God’s image. God is not talking about our physical appearance. We were created with the same attributes as God. Like God we can create, but not out of nothing. We are capable of showing mercy, being forgiving, being just, and being compassionate. One image of God that jumps out is LOVE! “God is love” (I John 4:8b). God doesn’t just love. God is love.
