The Prayer Of Our High Priest #5

“I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. While I was with them, I was keeping them in Your name which You have given Me; and I guarded them and not one of them perished but the son of perdition, so that Scripture would be fulfilled” (John 17:11-12).

In a few hours Jesus faces a horrible death, yet He is concerned with His disciples more than Himself at this point.

On This I Stand

“But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me” (2 Tim. 4:19).
Have any trouble walking? Do you lose your balance? Is there pain in standing? I’ve taken as jokes all the witticisms, and digs concerning my use of a cane as a preacher. For as long as I can stand, and am called upon to present God’s word, the wisecracks mean little to me.

“Be Thankful”

“. . .always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father” (Eph 5:20 NASU).
No, it’s not Thanksgiving Day. Far from it. But, for the Christian, every day should be a thanksgiving day. Paul says, “always” giving thanks for all things.
