Let’s Watch Our Attitude

“When His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But He turned and rebuked them, [and said, “You do not know what kind of spirit you are of” (Luke 9:54-55 NASU).

Salvation By What?

Scripture: “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2:8, 9, NKJV).
Can you work hard enough, long enough, to earn salvation? Many have tried; none have succeeded. The Bible says salvation is by God’s grace (see Ephesians 2:8, 9). You can no more earn your salvation than you can extract yourself from a pool of quicksand by tugging on your boot straps!

A Deep Running Anger

“And Moses anger burned” (Ex. 32:19).
It is common in study and reading to find instances in which the assumed leaders of biblical men and women displayed characteristics we might say, “Are just like me.” Each is a reminder of how all men sin, how we somehow model ourselves after another’s conduct, and how disciples either grow or fall away.
