Devotions for Life

Text: “But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper-tree: and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is enough; now, O Jehovah, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers” (I Kings 19:4).
Jezebel was making Elijah’s life miserable. The prophet of God was feeling “down”. Elijah was feeling so low that he wanted to die.

He’s Out There!

“You too, be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour that you do not expect” (Luke 12:40).

On a visit to Oklahoma, it was simple to recall upon returning home the many large and decorative casinos with their crowded parking lots side by side with adobe homes in two desert states. How can native Americans accept the new gambling attractions and the sprawling truck stops right outside their doors?

Joy, Such A Precious Commodity

Today’s Scripture: John 16:24 – “Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.”
Paul Harvey was, without a doubt, the most listened to radio personality during my growing up years. He was a great story teller. Maybe it was because I lived at the end of a dirt road that my favorite story was about the dirt roads. He said, “Things were better then.”
