Devotions for Life

Are You A Fraud?

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us” (Romans 8:37).

In 2009, Sir Terry Pratchett wrote, “I wish I was a real author. I feel like a fraud.” When he wrote this, he had sold over 45 million copies of his books. Queen Elizabeth had knighted him for his literary contributions to England. Today, he has sold over 85 million books.

“And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors” (Matthew 6:12).
Jesus went on to expand that part of the model prayer. “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others your Father will not forgive your transgressions” (Matthew 6:14 and 15).
We have forgiveness because of the sacrifice of Christ Jesus. He shed His blood for the forgiveness of sins (Matthew 26:28). God forgives us because of His Son’s obedience (Hebrews 5:8-9, and Philippians 2:6-9). However, we must obey Jesus (Hebrews 5:9) and demonstrate our appreciation of His forgiveness. If we refuse to forgive others, who are created in God’s image, we can render God unable to extend his forgiveness to us (Matthew 6:15).

Scripture Reading – Ephesians 5:15-16

Today’s Bible Thought: “And we have something more sure, the prophetic word, to which you will do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts” (2 Pet. 1:19).
