Seeing Is Believing

Bible Thought:
“By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith” (Hebrews 11:7).
This past week, a group from my home town traveled to Williamstown, KY to visit the Ark Encounter. For those who are unaware, the Ark Encounter features a full scale replica of Noah’s Ark. Our group spent several hours exploring this amazing exhibit. One friend commented, “Just seeing this gives my faith a shot in the arm.” I agree!

God’s Ways Don’t Make Sense

Job 9:1-35

“If someone wanted to take God to court, would it be possible to answer him even once in a thousand times? For God is so wise and so mighty. Who has ever challenged him successfully? …

“… Though I am innocent, my own mouth would pronounce me guilty. Though I am blameless, it would prove me wicked.” (Job 9:3-4, 20)

Job knew that God didn’t owe him anything. Job was alive by the grace of God, even if he was suffering. Job also believed that he had not sinned in a way to deserve such suffering.

Saving Face; Ignoring Grace

1 Samuel 15:24-31

Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the LORD’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded. But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the LORD.”
