Let Me Tell You

Today’s Scripture: – Acts 6:6-7 “The word of God kept on spreading; and the number of the disciples continued to increase greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were becoming obedient to the faith”

I purchased my coffee and settled in at a spot in the coffee shop that seemed to be the best place to do a little reading. I don’t know how I missed her. She was very excited and wanted everyone to know what had gotten her to this state of exuberance. She had her cell phone in hand and as soon as she finished with one call she made another. Each new conversation began with the phrase “let me tell you…” and then proceed to tell the listener about a great event in her life that had recently taken place. Good news is like that; it’s hard to not tell others.

Being Alive

“And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life” (I John 5:11-12).

In His discussion on his being the door of the sheep Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Did you know that you were dead? “And you were dead in your trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). God made dead sinners alive with Christ (Ephesians 2:5). They were buried with Jesus through baptism. We were raised by the glory and power of the Father just as Jesus was resurrected. We were raised to the newness of life (Romans 6:3-7). We are no longer dead in sin, but alive in Christ!

Blessed Or Stressed?

Text: “I came that they may have life, and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Jesus said that He came to give us an abundant life. This includes a lot of things; a lot of blessings.
The ultimate blessings come when we reach our eternal home, in heaven, with our Lord and all the saints. But, in this life, there are many blessings as well. Unfortunately many who profess to be Christians may be missing out on these blessings.
