Today’s Bible Verse: “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer” (Acts 2:42NASU).

You know, there are some people who just seem to grow more and know more than others. Why? Usually, it is because they are consistent in their effort to grow spiritually. Consistency produces gratifying results. Inconsistence produces discouragement and very few gratifying results. If there is one thing that I would encourage a Christian to do, it would be to continually devote yourself to spiritual activities. The Greek word that is translated “continually” or “steadfastly” means “to give constant attention” to something or someone.

A Child Communes

“Let the children alone and do not hinder them from coming to Me” (Matt. 19:14).

Those raised in the church have an advantage in that adults can relate for them just how they behaved in their early days. For instance, a one year old finished a six mile ride on a street car in thirty degree weather, walking the last block to the building in snow. It was comfortable there and mother led him to a back folding chair in case she had to take him out.

A Child Communes

“Let the children alone and do not hinder them from coming to Me” (Matt. 19:14).
Naturally, he wanted to stand on the seat so he could see over all those adult heads in front of him and he did so quietly. However, the preacher, seeing the youngster standing on the seat said, “Maam, would you seat your boy so he doesn’t disrupt us with a fall.” Why didn’t he call the boy by name, you know, like “Gordon,” for instance? When the lesson on the kingdom ended, it was time for communion.
