Life In The Hands Of Others

“Father, may they be one in us” (Jn. 17:21).
Loneliness is often a life lived without the company or the attention of others. The mature usually experience the departure of family, or careers, different goals, or old age drive unwelcome wedges between those once close ties.

The Christian Race

Ponder: The Christian Race – Sprint? Marathon? Obstacle Course?

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7, NKJV).

The apostle Paul must have liked sports. In particular, he used two sports metaphors for the life and work of a Christian: boxing and racing (2 Timothy 4:7; 1 Corinthians 9:26). For now, let’s focus on the race.

How many Olympic athletes can you name who set a goal of losing a race? Ridiculous! Runners train, work, practice, discipline themselves, and finally give it everything they have in the race in order to win, not lose!

My Problem, Not His!”

And they “slapped Him in the face” (Jn 19:3).

In John’s account of Jesus’ trail, Pilate ordered the scourging of the Lord while soldiers yelled, “Hail, King of the Jews” (Jn. 19:1-3), and then slapped Him in the face. It was a final use of their power to humiliate Jesus before the cross.Whatever our state of mind and heart, whatever our life situation, joyful or depressed, rich or poor, God’s love is present as a shield. He has gone to great lengths to make love surface as a reality in life’s daily happenings.
