Pressing On To Perfection

“Wherefore, leaving the doctrine of the first principles of Christ, let us press on unto perfection…” (Hebrews 6:1).

One of the most fascinating stories in the New Testament is that of the conversion of Saul in Acts chapter 9. Saul knew the Old Testament well. He had studied under Gamaliel, and even as a young man, he was known as a “Pharisee of the Pharisees.” Saul knew the Hebrew scriptures, but he did not know Jesus.

Depression’s Darkness

“After this, opened Job his mouth” (Job 3:1).
1935 saw the darkest depths of the Great Depression never before experienced nor equaled in the United States. A man with one of the first car rental agencies in Kansas City, Missouri lost his bank assets when the institution folded with no federal insurance backing. Fire destroyed the showroom and the attic where a friend-custodian resided, a personal shock. With no cars rented, income ceased and the house was foreclosed. It became too much to handle, there was no help and he took his own life. He was my father. I was ten, my sister four, and our strong faith mother scrubbed floors in a downtown hotel.

Around The Cross We See… Part 1

All of us are guilty of the death of Jesus on the cross
Hebrews 6:6 (KJV)
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
