Which Way Are You Going?

“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go” (Josh 1:7 NIV)
One of the more memorable statements by my teacher and mentor, Roy H. Lanier, Sr. was “We should never run past Jerusalem to get away from Bethel.” Unless you knew something about Bethel this has no meaning to you. Let me explain.

Sergeant York, The Rest Of The Story

Text: “let us hold fast the confession of our hope that it waver not; for he is faithful that promised” (Heb 10:23).
Recently, I wrote about Sgt. Alvin York, one of the most decorated soldiers in WW1, mentioning that the home place of Sgt. York was on the route of a trip that I had planned.
Well, during that trip I visited the York home place, the York burial site and a museum dedicated to Sgt. York.
During a conversation with the museum curator, I mentioned my admiration for Sgt. York and his heroic service to our country. Also, I mentioned that I had used him in an article that I had recently written. Seeing my enthusiasm, she said, “His son was just here.” Then, pausing as she looked outside, she said, “That’s him getting in the car.”

Does Jesus Care?

“. . . casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you”(1 Peter 5:7 NASU).
There were at least two occasions when people asked if Jesus even cared. Can you imagine that? The most compassionate, loving person who ever lived was questioned about His caring for them!
