“As We Weigh Anchor”

“This hope we have an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil” (Heb. 6:19).
Most anchors today are seen as advertising symbols, possibly relating to their strength or reliability, while the anchor picture on coins and medals has come to mean hope. For Christians, the anchor is applied to our great hope, which supplies a brace against the drift of the tide and the earth’s merciless ocean of trials.

How Much Do You Love?

Ponder: The astounding love of God
Scripture: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8, NKJV).
“How much do you love me?” That’s a difficult question. After all, how do you calculate love? You can’t weigh it on a scale or measure it with a ruler. God didn’t merely affirm the magnitude of His love for us in words; He demonstrated it through Jesus. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son . . .” (John 3:16).

“Let Your Laughter Be Turned Into Mourning” – James 4:9

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Thess 5:23).
Robin Williams was one of the most successful comics and actors ever to appear in this world. He lived to make people laugh and happy. But tragically, he could not find happiness for himself. Drugs, alcohol, three divorces and severe depression led to his untimely death, which was caused by asphyxiation, possibly suggesting that he hanged himself. Regardless how the story unfolds, the world has lost a great talent who provided those who appreciated his talent entertainment for over three decades.
