Looking To Faith

Today’s Scripture: Hebrews 12:1-2 – “…let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus…”

One of the most iconic symbols of the Unites States of America is the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia. Interestingly, it is noted for the crack which appeared shortly after its arrival in Philadelphia in 1752 from London.

Hardly Expected

“But a man named Ananias with his wife Sapphira sold a piece of property and kept back part of the price for himself, with his wife’s full knowledge, and bringing a portion of it, he laid it at the apostle’s feet” (Acts 5:1-2).

Sin never brings those involved what was pictured or promised because the less invested in truth, integrity and spiritual security, the less the return.  Like the fellow whose plan was to rob a store by handing the clerk a ten dollar bill so she’d have to open the cash register drawer and he could grab all the money.

Overnight Millionaires

“And my God shall supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

The people who live near my hometown earn their livings by farming and mining coal.  They are not poor, but neither are they rich.  However, recently the gas companies have offered to pay them $5,000.00 an acre for the mineral rights to their properties.  Those who sell their mineral rights are also paid a lien fee which allows the gas company to drill gas wells on their land.  If gas is found, they are paid a percentage from the gas wells as they produce.  Some people have become millionaires almost overnight.
