Devotions for Life

Disaster Makers

“. . . Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that the gods made with hands are no gods at all” (Acts 19:26).
A parking ticket rankles the Christian whose innocence is challenged.  After all, when we speak of persecution of Christ’s followers, it’s beyond our imagination that those early disciples could be arrested, dragged before a mob and ordered to deny the One God . . . or else!

Shameless Begging

“Son of David, have mercy on me!…I want to regain my sight!” (Mark 11:47, 51).

When a blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by he cried out for mercy to receive his sight. “Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’ (Mark 11:48).

Be A Friend – Have A Friend

Text: “Many will say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable” (Proverbs 20:6)?

I read, recently, about the discovery of two bodies. Identical twin brothers were found, inside their home, in their recliners.  It is unusual that two brothers would be deceased at the same time but even more unusual is that their bodies were not discovered for about three years!
