Devotions for Life

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Feelings, Change Your Life!

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things” (Phil 4:8).

The grand epistle to the church at Philippi is a book about attitudes. Paul believed if one changed his attitude, he would change his behavior. Paul could have been deeply disturbed, being in prison, to learn that some preachers were trying to discredit him. Paul’s attitude was simple: regardless of their attitude towards him, if they preached the true gospel he was thankful (chapter 1).

Be Evangelistic!

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile” (Romans 1:16).

Evangelism, what is it? Who is to evangelize? Is evangelism a talent?

These are questions the church is facing in these tough times, but they are hardly new questions. Sadly, while the church in America has, in my humble opinion, withdrawn into itself. Satan has not stopped in his attempt to pervert and stop the Gospel from being told (2 Cor. 4:3-4).

What’s In Your Heart?

Ponder: Is it more important what’s in your wallet, or your heart?

Scripture: “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23, NKJV).

A certain credit card company ends its advertisements with the question, “What’s in your wallet?” To hear them tell it, various features of their card make it superior to those issued by competitors. If you have a card from another company in your wallet, you should replace it with theirs.
