Secret Sins. . .

“Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; Then I will be blameless, And I shall be acquitted of great transgression”  (Ps. 19:12-13).

David gives three categories of sin:  secret sins, presumptuous sins, and great transgression.  While most will agree that sin is sin, and a “little” sin will send a person to hell as surely as a “big” sin, the Scriptures  suggest “degrees” of evil.   Jesus told Pilate, “he who delivered Me to you has the greater sin” (Jn. 19:11).  Perhaps the difference is in the degree of harm our sins bring upon others.

My Three Friends

“Make no friends with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go” (Pro. 22:24 KJV).

It’s true!  Anyone who pushes nearer to the Lord is your friend.  It was never more so than in this past week’s experience.  My health care carrier indicated I must trade off a long used prescription item for a new, less expensive one, and that meant obtaining paperwork from my doctor.  Thus begins the tale.

Now, That’s Profound

Text: “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:9 NASB).

I, jokingly, tell people that I once said something profound. I know it was profound because my friend told me so. During a discussion, at our monthly preacher’s breakfast, Rob looked across the table and said, “Roy, that is very profound!” Unfortunately neither of us, after so long a time, remembers what I said.
