Compartmentalizing

Ponder: “Spiritual” and “Secular”

 

Scripture: “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17NKJV).

To compartmentalize means “to separate something into sections or categories” (Merriam Webster). A business might put one group of employees in the sales department while others work in shipping and receiving. That makes good sense.

“And God Was Angry”

Text: “Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5 NAS).

During the days of Noah God was grieved, even angry, at the conduct of those ungodly people. “God looked on the earth, and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the earth” (Genesis 6:12).

“I’m Not That Bad”

“The person who sins will die” (Ezek 18:20a NASU).

When David sinned with Bethsheba, who was the wife of another man, he never considered the consequences until she became pregnant.  Her husband, Uriah, was a soldier in David’s army, and at war with the Ammonites.
