Devotions for Life

Encourage The Doer

“Therefore, encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing” (1 Thess. 5:11).

Serving the Lord has its own reward, but if there is no sign among the body of Christian’s good works, that “doer” may become discouraged or lose confidence. Some individuals see the very lifting of spirits as part of the Word and they are blessed, but there remains in most humans the need to be noticed.

Genesis Three: A Microcosm Of Human Experience

In Genesis three, we have the fall of Adam and Eve. In the first three chapters of Genesis we have an explanation of the origin of man, the original sin, and the plight of humanity (suffering and death). Evolution sees man rising out of
subhuman life forms. But, biblically, man is a special creation of God, without a precursor.

Open Our Eyes

“For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thought and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

“Lord, open the King of England’s eyes.” These were the last words and final prayer of William Tyndale before he was put to death for translating the Bible into English. Two years later, King Henry VIII gave his permission for John Rogers’ English Bible. The King James Bible, published in 1611, was based heavily on William Tyndale’s translation.
