Grasshopper Complex

“There also we saw the Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight” (Num 13:33).

I’m using “complex,” not in the deep psychological sense of Jung or others, but in a general sense, according to one of its definitions, as: “an exaggerated reaction to a subject or situation.”

Too Much To Handle

“No temptation has overtaken you such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it” (I Corinthians 10:13).

Today I heard a woman say, “I am tired of people saying that God only gives them what they can handle. God gives us more than we can handle on our own.” I thought about that. She is right. What purpose would trials serve if we could handle them on our own without God?

Plain and Simple: Be A Good Example

Text: “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the
believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity” (I Timothy 4:12).

The apostle Paul instructs Timothy, as a young Christian, to be mindful of his conduct.
In truth this applies to Christians of all ages.
