Devotions for Life

“Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord” (Proverbs 1:29).
I have decided to quit trying to make sense out of the world’s behavior. A fallen world is just senseless, and no matter how hard I try, the task is impossible. The problem is that the world refuses to recognize its Creator.
I realize that I shouldn’t be surprised. After all, the Spirit described a world that ignores its Creator. “For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God” (II Timothy 3:2-4). Sounds like this time and this generation; however, this has been true of every time and every generation.

Greenhouses And Salvation

Ponder: Grace, Faith, an Obedience – how are they related?
Today’s Bible Verse: “For by grace you have been saved through faith . . .” (Ephesians 2:8, NKJV).
Why is a greenhouse full of light? One answers, “Because it is made of glass.” Another replies, “Because the sun is shining.” The two answers are not contradictory; they simply approach the question from different angles. Cover the glass, and the greenhouse will be dark even at high noon; but at midnight the greenhouse will be dark no matter how much glass it has.

Old Timers Are Welcome

Today’s Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”
Old timers are welcome. What was once a place for the 20-somethings to post mundane things of the present has become a meeting place for reminiscing. It is called Facebook. Someone can post a picture of some relic from the past and then invite people to “like” it if they can identify the object. It could be anything from a church key to a key that opened a can of spam to a roller skate key to a crown cork.
