“Never Give Up”

Ponder: John 6:43-48
Today’s Bible Verse: “Therefore, we ourselves speak proudly of you among the churches of God for your perseverance and faith in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions you endure” (2 Thess. 1:4).
It’s encouraging and uplifting to hear the story of Winston Churchill’s speech to a group of college students from a draft of nine words and three simple sentences: “Never give up!” Churchill paused, then said, “Never give up!” The words were followed with a longer pause, causing them to wonder, will he continue? The he said in his deepest voice, “Never give up!”

Who Is This Jesus? Part Four

Ponder: “Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).
Jesus has all authority in heaven and on the earth. He is Lord, supreme Leader. One thing that Jesus isn’t is remote or detached from people. No, Jesus is compassionate! He healed people, He fed people, and He saw their needs and met them. Consider also how Jesus treated people. We see a prime example when He helps a leper. Lepers were unclean, untouchable; lepers had to warn people when they were coming. Jesus touched lepers before He healed them. Can you even begin to imagine what that simple touch meant? Jesus ate with sinners; He was where He was needed.

Today’s Scripture: Isaiah 40:31 – “… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
I have never been a fan of the waiting game, although I have been forced to participate. We wait at stop signs and traffic lights, to purchase items in any store, restaurants and banks and movie theatres. We wait for the mail person to bring good news and for our ship to arrive.
