Guard Your Steps

Today’s Bible Verse: “Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil” (Eccl 5:1 NASU).

Many Biblical passages warn us to be careful in the paths we choose to walk. There are many Satanic-placed traps. Yet Solomon is warning that each guard his steps “when you go to the house of God.” When we come to worship we’d better give careful consideration and make sure we know what we are doing. When dealing with worship we need to do the following:

Bible Verse for Today: “In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with
thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God” (Philippians 4:6).
A friend recently told me, “I am becoming unraveled thread by thread.” She then listed all of the troubles that had come into her life. Her husband left her and married someone else, she developed
a life-threatening illness, and her only son died at the age of 25. Then she lost her house to
foreclosure. She felt that she had lost everything important in her life.

Needed: More Ezra

Ponder: Seeking, doing, and teaching the word of God.
Scripture: “For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the Law of the Lord, and to do it, and to
teach statutes and ordinances in Israel” (Ezra 7:10, NKJV).
Over 2400 years ago, Ezra emerged as a leader among the Jews. Being both a scribe and a
priest (Ezra 7:11), serving the Lord was no mere ritual to him. He had prepared his heart
to seek, do and teach God’s law.
