Devotions for Life

What’s Really Important?

Ponder Haggai 1:1-15
Today’s Bible Verse: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matt 6:33 NASU).
In the closing days of Old Testament history, Haggai, the prophet of God, arose to challenge the people of God to renew their vigor and strength to complete the rebuilding of the temple of God that had been suspended after the reign of Cyrus.

Baptism Now Saves Us

” Corresponding to that (the Flood, rr) baptism now saves you — not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience — through the resurrection of Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 3:21 NASU).

The other day I saw in my email box an email titled 13 objections to baptism. I wondered why would anyone object to baptism? After all, it is commanded by our Lord Jesus and wouldn’t we all agree, as believers, that no one could be saved from their sins if one rejected doing what the Lord asks?

The Church You Want

“By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:35).
As I visit congregations, I notice that each one has its own distinct personality.   I am sure you have heard of “cold” churches “friendly” churches, “critical” churches, “liberal” churches, “ultraconservative” churches, and the list goes on. What kind of church do you want your church to be?
