Devotions for Life

A Godly Example

Nehemiah 13:1-31
“Wasn’t this exactly what led King Solomon of Israel into sin?”
I demanded. “There was no king from any nation who could compare
to him, and God loved him and made him king over all Israel. But
even he was led into sin by his foreign wives. How could you even
think of committing this sinful deed and acting unfaithfully toward
God by marrying foreign women?”

Same Old, Same Old

Jeremiah 25:1-14

This message for all the people of Judah came to Jeremiah from the
LORD during the fourth year of Jehoiakim’s reign over Judah. This
was the year when King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon began his reign.
Jeremiah the prophet said to all the people in Judah and Jerusalem,
“For the past twenty-three years—from the thirteenth year of the
reign of Josiah son of Amon, king of Judah, until now—the LORD has
been giving me his messages. I have faithfully passed them on to you,
but you have not listened.”

A Controversial Message

Jeremiah 26:1-24
This message came to Jeremiah from the LORD early in the reign
of Jehoiakim son of Josiah, king of Judah. “This is what the LORD
says: Stand in the courtyard in front of the Temple of the LORD,
and make an announcement to the people who have come there to
worship from all over Judah. Give them my entire message; include
every word. Perhaps they will listen and turn from their evil ways.
Then I will change my mind about the disaster I am ready to pour
out on them because of their sins.”
