A Future Victory

Zechariah 12:1-14

This message concerning the fate of Israel came from the Lord: …
β€œOn that day I will make the clans of Judah like a flame that sets
a woodpile ablaze or like a burning torch among sheaves of grain.
They will burn up all the neighboring nations right and left,
while the people living in Jerusalem remain secure.”

“Those Others”

Today’s Bible Verse: “This is how we know we love the children
of God. . .”
(1Jn. 5:2a).
The command was new and it came straight from God.
“. . . That you love one another as I have loved you, that
you also love one another.” Although it is applicable to our
brothers and sisters in Christ, many of us find it easier to
love the entire world than to concern ourselves about our
closest neighbors in our own block. That fellow next door
is right there outside the window through which we watch
him and maybe even nod, while Proverbs 27:10 states,
“Better is the neighbor that is near, than a brother afar off.”

Is The Bible From God?

Today’s Bible Verse: “For the word of God is living and active
and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as
the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and
able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart”
(Heb 4:12 NASU).
Matthew Fontaine Maury (1806-1873) was a United States naval
officer and scientist who did much to improve ocean travel
(World Book Encyclopedia). One day while he was sick and in
bed his son was reading the Bible to him. When he read
“whatsoever passes through the paths of the seas” (Psalm 8:8),
Matthew said, “If the Word of God says there are paths in the
sea, they must be there. I will find them” (Why We Believe the
Bible by George W. DeHoff, p. 53).
