Brand Marks Of Jesus

“From now on let no one cause trouble for me, for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus”
(Gal 6:17 NAS).
Paul was constantly attacked physically by his opponents, and also many tried to discredit him as an apostle. None of this unsettled Paul. He took whatever the world threw at him “to fill up that which is lacking in Christ’s afflictions (Col. 1:24). He looked at his scares as brand-marks of Jesus.

An All Seeing Eye

“The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek after God” (Psalm 14:2).
When I was much younger, we sang a song titled “There’s An All-Seeing Eye Watching You.” The words of the song frightened me. I thought God was watching me every second, ready to punish me if I did anything amiss. I should have thought that maybe God was watching to see if I did anything good or if I need help.

“Do More And More”

Finally, brothers, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living.
Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more” (1 Thess 4:1-2).
Isn’t it nice to be acknowledged for what we have done and to be encouraged to take it to another level rather than being criticized for not doing more than we have done? Paul recognized the progress of Christians, and commended them for it. He also saw this as potential for greater growth and success.
