Devotions for Life

“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn” (Harriet Beecher Stowe).
The full statement by Harriet Stowe is, “When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, until it seems as though you cannot hang on a minute longer, never give up then, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”
Harriet Beecher Stowe wrote Uncle Tom’s Cabin. According to legend, Lincoln said when he met her in 1862, “So you’re the little woman who wrote the book that started this great war!” She had been so disturbed by the stories about the cruelty of slavery that she spoke out not only in America, but also in Europe. Her determination never wavered as she worked to end slavery.

Mama Please Choose Me

“For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb. I will give thanks to
You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14a).
The “Magnolia Messenger”
had an article dealing with abortion. As a Christian, what can I do to stop it? The best way
might be to actively teach and convert people to follow Christ and to work with adoption centers.

The following is a song written by Betty Steward.

The Peace of God

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6).

The above verse is very familiar to most of us. It is so familiar that we usually don’t stop to think about it. Ask yourself this question: Which of God’s spiritual blessings would you miss the most? My guess is that it would be His peace.
