Devotions for Life

God’s Friend

“But you, Israel, My servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, descendant of Abraham My friend” (Isaiah 41:8). “You are My friends if you do what I command you” (John 15:14).

Abraham is God’s friend, and Jesus calls us friend. There is a condition attached. God and Jesus expect us to be obedient. He can make us reason ourselves into thinking that what we’re doing isn’t wrong.

The peaches that are grown in the garden of Xi Wang-mu’s (pronounced Shee Wong moo) are reputed to be very special peaches. Imagine my surprise to find out that the gods are nourished by a steady diet of those special peaches that take thousands of years to ripen. They are called “the peaches of immortality.” To those who eat one will be granted long life; in fact, 3000 years from a single peach. (Mental_floss, Gabe, Luzier. November 2014)
