Our Father Is Ever Ready To Forgive

Luke 15:11 “And he said, ‘a certain man had two sons….'”

Thus begins one of the greatest parables spoken by Jesus. As we study this parable, we seem to always express our amazement at the younger son. A young man who grew weary of the restraints of his father, a young man who wanted to be his own master. This young man wanted to be independent of all parental authority so he leaves home thinking that there are so many good things awaiting him in that far country.

Dead Flies

“Dead flies make a perfumer’s oil stink, so a little foolishness is weightier than
and honor” (Ecclesiastes 10:1).
Those are the best kind, if you ask me. The live ones buzz around, irritating us, making us
reach for the fly swatter. The ancients didn’t like flies either. I wonder: did they have fly
swatters too?

Ponder: Your thoughts

Today’s verse: “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (II Corinthians 10:5).
Several years ago the acronym G.I.G.O. (Garbage In, Garbage Out) was coined. While this was said regarding computers, it can apply to what we put into our minds.
